Comic-Con!! (July 24-27)

Wed Jul 30, 2008, 10:27 PM
I'm baaack!! Sorry, it may take a while to reply to your comments and such, but for now I will post a journal about my trip. I may come back and update this since well, I just came back and I might get tiered. Don't worry I'll post my favourite pictures from the vacation. And yes I was in fact in costume; my Halloween costume since I didn't want to ruin my better suit.

So quick recap of everyday...

This was my first time ever at a convention of any sorts and turns out I was a star. Everyone wanted my picture it was great. =P The exhibit was amazing. Surely we managed to check out all the main exhibits like DC, Marvel, Lucasfilm and what-not so after that I was all excited to see the Warner Brothers booth.

When we got there I was surprised to see Paul Dini on a big screen that hung over top the WB tower. I pulled at my mother and said, "that's Paul Dini, you know the writer I always talk about". But, before I finished I realised that he in fact was sitting directly under the screen!! So I panicked. I couldn't belive my eyes. I was so excited!! My mom forced me to walk to the line up where he was signing a poster along with other who worked on "Freakazoid". I was so lucky since I was the second last person allowed in the line up.

While standing in the line I waved to him (in my Joker outfit of course) and he waved back--however not as frantically as me. =P He was so kind. I randomly yelled out that I loved him while in the line, he heard and smirked. Then when we (my mom and I) go close to him, she tells him that she constantly hears his name in the house. I guess he found that amusing, too. I asked him if I could shake his hand, he agreed, but he tilted it at first to make sure I wasn't carrying a joy-buzzer. He has a nice firm hand shake, might I add.

I was in such awe after that, that I could barely walk. My legs were like jelly. He was such a cool guy. (scary to say, but his manners reminded both my mom and I of my teacher mister Roberts).

Also, I got to meet Jerry Robinson!! (there were three people who created the Joker and well he's the only one of them that's still alive) I spoke to him, shook his hand, got his picture and autograph too.

People from the press got photographs of us so if you see us in magasines or the newspaper be sure to tell. =D

The greatest part of today, was seeing the Batman pannel. I got to see:

2:15-3:15 DC: Batman: No Rest for The Dark Knight— Batman is the original dark hero. He lives a life pledged to helping the helpless and punishing the guilty, but this summer everything is going to change. With a blockbuster hit in theatres and a darker storyline than ever before, now's the time to celebrate the minds behind the bat! Senior editor Michael Marts, Grant Morrison (Batman), Paul Dini (Detective Comics), Dustin Nguyen (Detective Comics), Brian Azzarello (Joker), and others discuss the mythos of the Bat and what looms ahead for our hero. Room 6A

It was amazing. There is a Q&A section so I finally got the courage at the end to ask the whole panel what they though Joker was. As in is he gay, straight, bi... They replied with, he's nothing really. As long as he can make the situation as unpleasant as possible he'll do it.

You can hear the pannel on this site: [link]
You can hear me ask a question at ~ 50:33 =D

Today I also got autographs from a couple of my favourite artists, Neal Adams [link] and Lee Bermejo [link] .

Saturday (26th)

I got to see a trailer for the new Wonder Woman movie and see Bruce Timm--from afar.

We didn't stay long at comic-con that day.

Sunday (27th)
***

We went to see the Supernatural panel (since my friend Elaine is in love with the guys). She was hysterical.

Also, I blew a thousand dollars on goods today. =D I even bought my self an autographed lithograph (700$). Unfortunately we had to ship it so I won't see it for another week.

Well a lot was about the Joker, but they try to focus on the future so most of the panels spoke about things like Wonder Woman, the Spirit, and Watchmen (since those movies will be released next year). However almost every t-shirt stand, toy booth, or anything like that was selling Joker like crazy! After the first day nearly all Joker toys were sold out! --And the t-shirts were sold out of smalls and mediums. It was crazy seeing every second person with a clown face; whether it was a mask or painted on. Even little kids dressed as Heath's Joker, it was cute. --but, I felt truly unoriginal so that's why I'm glad I stuck to the Animated Joker outfit. Which nobody got, they all thought I was basing it on the Dark Knight, anyways.

Anyway, this was my favourite vacation ever. It even beat out our trip to France-Italy-Poland.

Daaang lol Well i still wish i had've known about it before i left! Exactly what's the difference between the animated Joker suit and Heath Ledger's? They seem the same..and I looked at your pics and I just don't see the difference!

Anyway, if it beat out those foreign country vacations i guess it HAD to be good :excited:

thx for writing so much. I was worried i was gonna have to dig the details outta u lol

Well, they are different--I just didn't get a great shot of the Ledger one. I wish someone took pictures of me on the 18th, my makeup and everything actually looked like Heath's.

Lol, I was going to write even more, but I figured people don't like to hear about me rambling on.

oh please! if there are more ramblings to be said I'm dying to hear them! lol :D

Ha ha well then I'm not entirely sure what to ramble about. When I'm given permission for some reason it becomes a challenge. =P
